Critical Deadlines

Saturday, May 1, 2010 is the absolute deadline for all completed Recruitment Information Forms (RIF) packets.

Suggested Sequence of Events for Potential New Members (PNM) and Parents
Preparing Recruitment Packets

Attend Houston Alumnae Panhellenic Association’s Recruitment (HAPA) Roundtable on Saturday, February 27, 2010. For details on this important event, visit www.houston-panhellenic.org. Parents and senior girls are strongly urged to attend.

Register with HAPA online at www.houston-panhellenic.org to indicate your interest in recruitment. The site opens approximately March 1. All registrations occur online. Please update the registration if any critical data changes (i.e. changing a college choice from The University of Texas to Texas A&M University).

Register with your college or university’s Panhellenic Association. These registries typically open between May 1 – May 15. Failure to register may preclude participation in recruitment. Verify recruitment dates and policies for your specific college campus.

Network with adults, friends, neighbors to share your plans about participating in sorority recruitment. These friends will be happy to support your efforts and assist in locating alumnae to write recommendations and letters of support.

Prepare a social resume profiling your academic honors, awards, and community and volunteer involvement. Please include special interests and activities. (i.e. multi-year camper at ABC Camp, competitive ice skater, church mission work, after- school employment history). Resume should include complete contact information for pnm including parent’s names, home address and home and pnm’s mobile telephone numbers.

Obtain a high school transcript from your school’s registrar. Only one official copy is required for Chi Omega. Any additional copies may be made from this official document.

Obtain copies of your ACT or SAT Student Score Reports. These can be downloaded from the college board website.

Choose photographs for submission. Chi Omega requires three photographs; only The University of Texas requires four. Identify photos (on the back side) with your name, hometown, high school, and year in school (i.e. freshman). Photos should be high quality and clearly identify you. All photographs may be printed in a 4” x 6” format.

Failure to meet the May 1 deadline is significant and may adversely impact the pnm. Once the Recruitment Board sends RIF packets to campus, the alumna will be individually responsible for processing and delivering the pnm’s recruitment packet to campus. Thanks for your assistance with this critical deadline.
