Are you ready to connect to your community? Chi Omegas are recognized as active participants in many Houston community organizations. We are also committed to our primary local philanthropy THE CENTER Serving Persons with Mental Retardation.  Chi Omega Alumnae have generously donated more than $2 million since the mid 1960s to THE CENTER. In addition to monetary donations, Chi Omegas serve on THE CENTER’s Board of Directors and the Board of THE CENTER Foundation.

THE CENTER’s Volunteer Opportunities

  • Assist with the preparation and packaging of the much-loved gingersnaps, cheese snaps, fruit cake and chocolate cookies.
  • Lend a hand at Willow River Farms, a rural living facility where residents make ceramics, candles, weaving and more.
  • Help THE CENTER on West Dallas near Shepherd facilitate field trips, dances, furniture caning and other activities for its residents.

Joni Fichter serves on both CENTER Boards and would be happy to give you more information. To learn more about how you can be directly involved with Chi Omega’s ongoing efforts at THE CENTER, contact Volunteer Liaison Barbe Bozeman at volunteer@chiomegahouston.com.

Other Opportunities

Besides supporting THE CENTER, Houston Chi Omega Alumnae also serve as advisors for the Psi Zeta chapter at the University of Houston, supporting the chapter’s 50 members. Each spring at Eleusinia, the Alumnae Association awards scholarships to deserving Psi Zetas and active Chi Omegas from Houston-area high schools.

Other opportunities include serving on the Alumnae Board, planning members-only events, working with the Recruitment Team and raising funds for our philanthropies at the bi-annual Chi Omega Kaleidoscope luncheon.
